04,

[Filtered to all HUMANS (non-vampire, non-Time Lord, etc); ask if not certain]
We've been out of blood for the beasts for some time, huh? What's to stop us from just not feeding them anymore? Can't we lock them up and just let them starve? They live forever, all right? So there'd be no "death toll" or worry of them coming back. We just lock them up and let them starve like the monsters they are.

Why is everyone treating them like they're some kind of humans, huh? I could say the same about some of the other creatures here too, but they haven't become dangerous yet.

Only those who were trying to hurt me.

Besides, I can become a vegetarian and stop hurting people. They can't. How are they supposed to be redeemed or whatever it is this place sells, huh?

Who are you to decide who can and cannot be redeemed? You're an inmate, just like the vampires you seem hell-bent on persecuting.

And you do realize that there are vampire wardens too, right?

I don't feast on humans, huh?

That doesn't make them any less dangerous, bakvissie.

Do you really need to say "huh" after every other sentence?

You seem unable to separate "drinking blood" from "killing." They don't need to drain us, and they don't even need to drink from our veins. I've been donating by having my blood drawn by a doctor at the Infirmary. It's safe, sterile, and keeps a portion of our population from needlessly starving.

No, but it means the vampiric inmates are clearly redeemable as-is, if others of their race are wardens. It also renders your assertion that they're monsters false.

It's the way I talk, all right? You got a problem with it, you stop talking to me.

And what happens if that blood ran out, huh? You think they would starve themselves rather than drink our blood? They're monsters. There are monster movies made about them. Making them real doesn't make them any less horrible.

Way I understand it, only requirement to be a warden is making a deal. That doesn't exactly guarantee any sort of good nature.

One of the vampire "attacks" you're referencing consisted of the vampire forcing another inmate to let them feed. She took a little, backed off, and then immediately confessed to her warden, saying she'd accept and understand punishment. She was deeply wrong in forcing that man, bottom line--but if she were a monster, she would have killed him or treated him like livestock. Instead, she was careful and took only what she needed to keep from starving, and then turned herself in. She could have killed him; she knew he'd have just come back to life later. But she didn't.

That isn't the behavior of an animal. She didn't feel she could help what she did, but she took care to make sure no harm came to the other inmate. That's a thinking, reasoning person who clearly harbors some form of care and concern for human beings.

I wasn't referencing anything, all right? But it's good to know exactly where we stand. As long as we inmates admit to our wrongs right away, then it's not bad, huh? If my food were in short supply, I wouldn't eat it all either, huh? It's safer for me to ration it.

Humans are dangerous too, huh, and I wouldn't trust us if I were a boar. We are lower on the food chain. There's no misinterpretation there. You think they can be nice? While I respectfully disagree, I'll agree to only lock up the ones that have killed. That's still a few from what I hear.

Sorry this is one topic that makes him ultra bitchy :c

She took "only" a little? How does that excuse what she did? Do you have any idea how violating it feels when they do that to you? Especially when they do have other sources of food and weren't in danger of starving, if the talk of donated blood is correct.

And what about the other attacks?

Understandably so!

[identity profile] thatlibbychick.livejournal.com 2010-03-28 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
What I'm trying to say is that she's improving, not that what she did is excusable. She might have actually killed that man months ago. Improvement indicates that she is redeemable.

Each attack should result in the vampire being punished individually, of course. It shouldn't lead to retaliatory mass persecution.

So I guess if I level up from murder to torture, I'm on the right track, too.

It's precaution, which is preferable to waiting for them to attack us under any flimsy excuse they can latch on to.
